In our previous post we looked at how Norce Commerce lets you integrate supplier data directly into your platform, covering purchase prices, availability, and delivery times from one or more suppliers per product. This post goes one level deeper: how Norce actually decides which supplier to buy from, and how that decision drives both your pricing and your order process automatically.
When you have multiple suppliers for the same product, the question of which one to use at any given moment is rarely simple. Purchase prices differ. Stock levels fluctuate. Lead times vary. Making that call manually, product by product and order by order, does not scale.
Norce Commerce handles this through what we call Chosen Supplier logic. For each product, Norce continuously evaluates all configured suppliers and identifies the best one based on purchase cost and stock levels. You can also add penalty charges to suppliers you want to deprioritize, for example when one is slower or less reliable, without removing them from consideration entirely.
The Chosen Supplier feeds directly into pricing. If you use cost-based pricing rules, cost-plus or margin-based, Norce calculates your sale prices from the best available supplier's purchase cost in real time. When that supplier's cost changes, or when another supplier becomes cheaper and in stock, Norce updates the calculation automatically. Your margins stay intact without manual intervention.
The same logic applies at the point of ordering. When an order comes in, Norce can surface the Chosen Supplier for each order line, giving your ERP or warehouse system the information it needs to route the purchase correctly from the start.
The result is a sourcing process that runs on rules rather than on manual decisions, accurate pricing, reliable availability, and the right supplier selected automatically whenever a product is sold.
