What is a CDN?

CDN stands for Content Delivery Network.

The use of dedicated servers helps display and deliver images and files, without latency; because they minimize the physical distance between the user and the content of the website.

With a CDN that delivers content from a server nearer to the visitor, the demand on the website's main server is decreased, and response times reduced; so that the website becomes faster and more user-friendly.

A fast website is important - from many aspects. Google prioritizes fast websites in its search results, visitors don’t tire, and the site doesn’t crash during traffic peaks. Everything lends itself to a more profitable website!

CDN provides:

1. Faster page load times
2. Faster website
3. Better search engine optimization
4. Parallel downloads
5. Increased total bandwidth
6. Reduced risk of server crash

Storm Commerce stores static data - such as images and files - on the Microsoft Azure CDN. Of course, as a client, you can use your own CDN; if you wish.
