AI-powered commerce

Built for today. Ready for what's next.

AI is reshaping how commerce solutions are built, operated, and experienced. At Norce, our approach is pragmatic and product driven. We focus on real commercial value today, while building the foundations for an agentic future. Norce AI approach is not a single feature or add-on. It is a platform-wide approach that spans how commerce is discovered, decided, executed, and continuously improved.

Hero - Norce AI approach - Norce (1)

Our AI strategy brings three areas together.

Together, they ensure Norce remains the trusted commerce engine, even as buying journeys move into new AI-driven surfaces.

Agentic commerce

How AI agents interact with assortments, pricing, and checkout.

Agentic solution management

How AI improves setup, operations, and lifecycle management of commerce solutions.

AI-powered product functionality

How AI is embedded into core commerce capabilities.

Agentic commerce

Agentic Commerce means moving beyond AI that only analyses or recommends.
It enables AI agents to act within clearly defined boundaries.

Agents can explore large and complex assortments, reason about different alternatives, variants, pricing, availability, and customer-specific terms, and move a purchase forward from intent to checkout and post purchase tasks.

We see three primary use cases.

Norce AI approach - shopping interface

External agent-driven shopping

This is often the use case most people think of when agentic commerce is discussed, where the buying experience moves outside the traditional webshop and into external AI-driven environments.

More buying journeys will start in conversational and AI-powered interfaces such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, social platforms, ads, and other digital surfaces where the buying experience extends beyond the traditional webshop. In these scenarios, users may search, ask questions, compare options, and complete an entire purchase without ever interacting with a traditional storefront UI.

In this model, Norce remains the underlying commerce engine, even when the interaction happens elsewhere. Product data, pricing logic, availability, customer-specific terms, checkout, and payments are still handled by Norce, ensuring consistency, security, and governance across all touchpoints.

This perspective fundamentally shapes how we design APIs, security models, and checkout exposure, enabling commerce to work reliably regardless of where the buying journey begins.

on-site shopping

On-site shopping assistants

Conversational assistants embedded directly in the web shop GUI that help buyers navigate complex catalogues, find the right product or replacement, understand pricing and availability, and add items to cart.

This is probably the fastest path to measurable value, improved discovery and higher conversion.

Autonomous B2B purchase

Autonomous / AI-assisted B2B purchasing

The third use case is maybe the most forward-looking. It involves fully or partially autonomous agents that can act on behalf of companies or individuals.

We believe this will become most relevant in B2B commerce, where purchasing is often repetitive, policy-driven, and constrained by complex rules. In this context, autonomous purchase agents can support or automate tasks such as:

  • Analysing gaps, shortages, and emerging needs
  • Optimising purchasing decisions based on price, availability, and delivery times
  • Selecting between approved suppliers, or, where allowed, introducing new alternatives
  • Identifying suitable replacement or compatible products
  • Optimising deliveries with respect to cost, lead time, and sustainability considerations
  • Operating within defined frameworks such as contracts, budgets, quality standards, and delivery requirements

Over time, purchase agents and sales agents may even negotiate prices and terms with each other, always within the policies, guardrails, and approvals defined by humans.

This use case places high demands on governance, traceability, and compliance. Even though it sits slightly further ahead than the other use cases, it already influences how we design Norce today. With the current pace of development, we expect to see early real-world applications emerge sooner rather than later.

Norce Agent Gateway

To enable agentic commerce safely and at scale, we introduced Norce Agent Gateway.

Agent Gateway is the controlled entry point for AI agents into Norce capabilities. It exposes commerce functionality through a structured, predictable, and governed tool surface.

It currently consists of:

Norce Agent Gateway (3)

Norce Commerce MCP

Provides structured access to core commerce capabilities such as products, variants, pricing, inventory, customer-specific terms, and checkout flows.

Norce Assistant MCP (1)

Norce Assistant MCP

Provides access to an AI-enhanced knowledge base built on Norce documentation. It offers concrete guidance, instructions, and contextual understanding of how solutions are designed and configured, enabling AI agents to work with the platform in a reliable and informed way.

Together, these components form a controlled gateway between AI agents and the Norce platform, designed to support agentic use cases without compromising governance, security, or operational control.

Checkout and payments (1)

Norce Commerce Agent SDK

The Norce Commerce Agent SDK is the practical toolkit for building agent-based commerce experiences on top of Norce.

It is open source, plug-and-play, and designed to avoid lock-in to specific AI models or vendors. The SDK allows partners and customers to build conversational assistants or agent workflows while keeping full control of storefronts, identity models, and business logic.

Checkout and payments

Checkout and payments in an agentic world

When software agents act on behalf of users, checkout and payments require new primitives.

Consent, policies, tokens, and traceability become core requirements.

Our current view is that Unified Commerce Protocol, UCP, will become a de facto standard for exposing checkout and payment capabilities to agents, regardless of where the purchase originates.

That is why our ambition is to build token-based UCP support deeply into Norce Checkout as part of the core, multi-tenant platform. Our initial focus is checkout and payment flows, developed in close collaboration with PSPs and ecosystem partners as standards mature.

Agentic Solution Management

AI does not only change how purchases are made. It also transforms how commerce solutions are built, operated, and continuously improved.

Agentic Solution Management is the second key pillar of the Norce AI approach. It focuses on enabling customers and partners to use AI agents and AI-supported development tools to work more efficiently, reduce manual effort, and build smarter surrounding services on top of Norce Commerce.

Over time, Norce will enable increasingly agent-driven ways of working that improve speed, precision, and automation across the full solution lifecycle, from initial setup to ongoing operations and optimisation.

Norce Agent Gateway already provides a strong foundation for supporting these initiatives and will continue to evolve to enable deeper and more advanced agent-driven workflows over time.

Agentic Solution Management

AI-powered product capabilities

AI is not only a way to interact with Norce. It is increasingly embedded directly into the product to improve efficiency, precision, and business impact in day-to-day work.

Our current initiatives focus primarily on PIM and core business logic, where AI can deliver immediate and measurable value.

Within PIM, AI can support the creation and enrichment of product content and within business logic, AI has the potential to support optimisation across areas such as pricing, assortment, stock levels, campaigns and purchasing.

Already today, we see clear examples of how this transformation is taking shape. Over time, these AI-powered capabilities will continue to expand across the platform, becoming a natural part of how commerce teams work with Norce on a daily basis.
